Karen Putnam, AKA: 
"Mrs. Dancing Paint Brush," 
is a Santa Barbara-based artist and dancer with more than 30 years experience teaching children and adults, including those with special needs.  

She has taught music and dance at area pre-schools and Kindermusik studios; 
coached Special Olympics Athletes, in addition to performing and teaching in Japan, Mexico, Cuba and Portugal.

Karen has 2 children and provided foster care for 5 additional children. 

In 1998 Karen founded 
"Art from the Heart" offering graphic design services, along with classes, parties and events for ages 4 months to 104 years. 

She received three grants from the SB County Arts Commission 
between 2008-2010 to provide multi-generational programming, 
in collaboration with parents, home/public schools, businesses and retirement communities 
featuring children’s music, dance and art.  

Karen studied at UC Santa Barbara, Santa Barbara City College, and City of Santa Barbara LEAP.

She is the author/illustrator of two children’s books: 
"Move with Mrs. Dancing Paintbrush," and "Share with Mrs. Dancing Paintbrush," and is working on a third book.

Currently in Santa Barbara, 
she plans events, teaches art and offers unique dance sessions for all levels of dancers . . . especially for those children and adults who "think" they can't dance.
